Some bird trips are about getting a lot of species and some are tougher missions of finding specific, more difficult birds. This week, we're doing the latter, targeting some of the more difficult sparrow species that over-winter on the Gulf of Mexico.

We've been looking for the Seaside Sparrow all week, and it's a challenging bird to see right now, since it's not actively singing.

I got lucky this afternoon. I walked away from the car and was listening to a bunch of Marsh Wrens singing in the grasses when this Seaside Sparrow popped up to check me out for about five seconds.
